Promoter Lou DiBella is not yet convinced that IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (26-0, 23KOs) is the real deal. Golovkin is pushing hard to face DiBella's main star, WBC champion Sergio Martinez, but first another of DiBella's fighters, Matthew Macklin (29-4, 20KOs), will test Golovkin's spirit and will on June 29th at Foxwoods Resort in Connecticut. HBO will televise.

"Maybe [the fight between Martinez and Golovkin can happen], if he doesn't lose to Matthew Macklin. Golovkin is young and very strong, but he can lose to Macklin. Golovkin has never fought anybody good. Everybody is crowning Golovkin as the greatest middleweight on earth, but who has he beaten? Rosado? Ishida? Proksa? I think Golovkin is special but Macklin is the toughest fighter that he's ever fought," DiBella said.
