WBC lightweight champion Adrien Broner (26-0, 22KOs) has no interest in a fight with Yuriorkis Gamboa (22-0, 16KOs) - unless the Cuban Olympic gold medal winner clears his name from the recent controversy that linked him to a Miami lab that was allegedly distributing performance enhancing drugs to dozens of top athletes. Gamboa was the only boxer linked to the lab.
Broner vs. Gamboa is a very anticipated match. Broner moved up to the lightweight division last year and captured the WBC championship with a TKO of Antonio DeMarco. He returned on Saturday night and retained that title with a fifth round TKO victory over Gavin Rees. Gamboa plans to move up to 135-pounds by his next fight, although Broner could soon move to 140.
"Yuriorkis Gamboa is fighting PEDs. He's on PEDs. I don't want to hear about Yuriorkis Gamboa. Tell him to go get his piss cleaned and then he can come talk to Adrien Broner. Other than that he's done," Broner said.
