IBF welterweight champion Devon Alexander is planning to move forward with his mandatory fight with unbeaten Kell Brook. The fight was placed into question when Alexander withdrew with a right bicep injury and then the following day Floyd Mayweather Jr. made a Twitter announcement that named Alexander as "the frontrunner" to fight him on May 4th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Alexander-Brook will reportedly take place on a May date.

"Everybody went crazy over the tweet. My obligation is to fight Kell Brook and that's what I'm going to do. We'll be back in the gym next week, my arm is feeling much better. I needed to push it back a few weeks as I want to be 100 percent. I know they were gutted - I didn't mean to gut anybody. I never cancelled a fight in my 25 career fights, so for me to cancel it had to be something serious," Alexander told IFilmLondon.

"He (Brook) is an okay fighter. He has the potential to be a good fighter but now is my time, I have my mojo going and it's just the wrong time for him."
