UIC Pavilion, Chicago, Illinois - Heavyweight Artur Szpilka (13-0, 10KOs) survived two knockdowns to knock Mike Mollo (20-4-1, 12KOs) out in the sixth round.

In a first round filled with fireworks, Szpilka went down in the first round after he was rocked and then put down with a hook to the body. Szpilka fired back with both hands. A cut opened up above Mollo's left eye from a clash of heads.

In the second round, another bad cut was opened up above Mollo's right eye. At first it wasn't clear how the cut was opened. Mollo claimed that it came from an elbow and the officials agreed. Things got heated near the end of that round with Mollo going after Szpilka after the bell.

Szpilka dominated the third round with his boxing. During the fourth, Mollo caught Szpilka with a huge hook in the final minute and put him down hard. This time Szpilka was very hurt and was taking punishment until the bell.

At the start of the fifth, the referee took a very undeserving point from Mollo for a minor push. They traded advantages during the action with Mollo coming forward and Szpilka trying use counters and his jab to keep some distance.

During the sixth round, the fight was going back and forth, but Szpilka landed a big bomb right on the button and that put Mollo down on his back. Mollo was flat out and the referee waved it off as he was counting him out.

Szpilka is scheduled to face Polish rival Krzysztof Zimnoch (13-0-1, 10KOs) on February 23rd as part of the Golota-Saleta undercard at the Ergo Arena in Gdansk, Poland. The fight still has question marks as Zimnoch has refused to sign the contract due to a disagreement with a clause calling for an extension of his promotional agreement.
