Edison "Eddy" Reynoso, manager of WBC 154-pound champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (41-0-1, 30KOs), expects his fighter to face Floyd Mayweather Jr. at some point in 2013. Canelo's next return if being targeted for May 4th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Floyd Mayweather Jr. will appear in action on the same card, likely against Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero. Canelo's opponent has not been finalized.

"Mayweather is the priority for Canelo this year, whether it's in May or Mexican Independence Day [September 14]. It is a fact that [in 2013] Canelo will hold both of his fights in Las Vegas or maybe one in Las Vegas and the other at Dallas Cowboys football stadium," Reynoso said.

Canelo starts training this week in Guadalajara and then he will travel to Los Angeles to finish his camp.

"Here in Guadalajara we are going to train for two months, and then we will spend another two months of working in Los Angeles for the May fight. We decided against training in Big Bear [for this camp], because it is very cold. We prefer to spend those final two months working in Los Angeles, in a particular gym that a friend will provide. This will make up the core of our training to fight in May," Reynoso said.
