The 2013 season of ESPN2 Friday Night Fights kicked off with a terrific main event and a horrific decision. Rances Barthelemy scored a 12-round points win over Arash Usmanee in a fight that serves as an early entrant for 2013 Robbery of the Year.

Scores were 116-112 (twice) and 115-113 for Barthelemy (18-0, 11KO), who is now one fight away from mandatory challenger status in the super featherweight rankings. Usmanee suffers his first official loss - however disgraceful the outcome - as he falls to 20-1 (10KO).

Jonathan Gonzalez (16-0-1, 13KO) scored a majority decision over Derek Ennis (23-4-1, 13KO) in a painfully dull 10-round co-feature.

The 95-95 score turned in sounded like the fairest verdict in a bout that saw pockets of action lost in a sea of disinterest from two fighters who really don't belong on TV. Scores of 98-92 and 97-93 favored Gonzalez' busier work rate, though Ennis boasted the higher connect percentage and landed the more telling blows during the bout's most significant exchanges.

A battle of undefeated featherweight prospects saw Hairon Socarras (6-0-1, 5 KOs) drill Josh Bowles (6-1, 1 KO) in the third round. A wicked right hand caught Bowles right on the button and sent him down and out.
