Promoter Frank Warren has no problem making a unification between WBO lightweight champion Ricky Burns (35-2, 10KOs) and his WBC counterpart Adrien Broner.

On February 16th in Atlantic City, Broner (25-0, 21KOs) will defend his belt against another British boxer, former 140-pound champion Gavin Rees (37-1-1, 18KOs). Burns will stay busy with a fight in late January or February.

Golden Boy Promotions, who have Broner, are not willing to meet the "high monetary demands" of Burns. Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer says Burns not only wants a record purse - but he also wants a "tax free" payment.

Warren stated: "If WBO lightweight boss Burns comes through a mark time third defence of his belt in late January, as expected, I’d love to pair him with any of the other 135-pound world title claimants, but particularly overhyped WBC czar Adrien Broner from Cincinnati. Already 29, Ricky now needs to be unleashed against the cream of the division if he’s to coin the rewards his talent merits."
