According to Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya, the public demand is growing for a Floyd Mayweather Jr. (43-0, 26KOs) vs. Saul Alvarez (41-0-1, 30KOs) showdown. De La Hoya says the "hundred million dollar question" is no longer being associated with a potential Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao fight. De La Hoya is now being approached on a regular basis with questions regarding a Mayweather-Canelo match.

Canelo has a tentative return date of May 4. Mayweather has not discussed the details of when he plans to return.

"I think the hundred million dollar question now is when the Canelo-Mayweather fight is going to happen. People that I run into...I go walking down the streets in [Los Angeles]. They don't ask me about the shows we're doing. They ask 'when is Canelo fighting Mayweather? When is Canelo fighting [Miguel] Cotto? Put him in against [Sergio] Martinez because he has a big mouth and disrespect Chavez. People want to see Canelo fight the top three guys, whichever one," De La Hoya said.

De La Hoya says there have been minor conversations with Mayweather and his team. The plan for Golden Boy, and Canelo, is to wait until early 2013 and then figure out if Canelo is fighting Mayweather, Cotto or Martinez.

"[Golden Boy CEO] Richard [Schaefer] deals with [Mayweather] He has a good relationship with Mayweather. Obviously we work with [Mayweather's adviser] Al [Haymon] and a lot of his fighters. There have been conversations, nothing formal. Mayweather makes his own decisions. He's his own boss. He decides when he's going to fight and who he's going to fight," De La Hoya said.
