Former six division world champion and President of Golden Boy Promotions Oscar De La Hoya made a special appearance on the latest edition of The Boxing Lab, BoxingScene.com's official audio show. De La Hoya told us that ticket sales for their quadrupleheader Showtime Championship Boxing card, headlined by "Canelo" Alvarez versus Josesito Lopez, have been brisk and they expect a full house on Saturday night at the MGM.

"We are over 13,000 sold. We expect a sell out Saturday night," said an excited De La Hoya who pointed to Alvarez's selling power.

"It is an indication that Canelo is here and he will be here for a very long time. This is the type of fighter that boxing has been looking for. From Ali to the Leonards, to Chavez, to myself and now the Mayweathers and Pacquiaos."

Down the street at the Thomas and Mack Center, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Sergio Martinez will fight in front of a sold out crowd as well with over 19,000 tickets sold for their fight that also takes place on Saturday. De La Hoya praised that card as well and said that the fans are in for a huge weekend of great boxing action.

"It is a tremendous weekend. You have two great fights. One is on pay-per-view and one is on Showtime Championship Boxing. This is a great weekend for boxing. All of the focus will be on boxing. There will be thousands of pay-per-views sold and there will be millions watching Showtime as well," De La Hoya told The Boxing Lab.
