The current super bantamweight world champion of the WBA, Cuban star Guillermo “The Jackal” Rigondeaux, continues his intense preparation for the first defense of the title that he snatched from Rico Ramos on January 20th in Las Vegas. Rigondeaux is training hard at the Xtreme Boxing Gym in Hialeah, Miami, which is owned by the trainer Jorge Rubio.

“The Jackal” held a six round sparring session with young Cuban prospect Hairon “El Maja” Socarras. Hairon helped Rigondeaux in his last training camp and the young boxer has now become a regular part of camp routine.

Rigondeaux is more than 30 days away the first defense of the world title. He plans to be in his best condition possible for the Teon Kennedy fight, which takes place on June 9th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Manny Pacquiao faces Timothy Bradley in the main event.

His co-promoter Boris Arencibia from Caribe Promotions, insists that Rigondeaux is ready to defend the crown against the best fighters at 122-pounds.
