BoxingScene.com recently spoke to "Mile High" Mike Alvarado (32-0) who is preparing for his April 14th battle against Mauricio Herrera (18-1).  The fight will be showcased in the co-feature slot underneath the Brandon Rios-Richard Abril main event that takes place at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Alvarado said that he is hoping to land a title shot in the near future and that he is willing to face any of the title holders.  When pressed for a specific name, the 31-year-old told BoxingScene that he especially would like a crack at WBA/IBF junior welterweight champion Lamont Peterson, whom he has a history with when both fighters were in the amateurs.

"A lot of guy are moving up (to the welterweight division), but I would like to fight the winner of (Amir) Khan-(Lamont) Peterson. I fought Lamont in the amateurs and he had a lopsided win over me, so I want to get him back.  I landed a big punch and he had to stagger back to his corner.  His trainer Barry Hunter was thrown out of his corner during the fight.  Even though he was staggered they had him up 17 to 1. You know how the amateurs are so political.  I would like to get that one back," revealed Alvarado.
