Pepsi Coliseum, Quebec - Lucian Bute (30-0, 24KOs) won a dominating twelve round unanimous decision over Glen Johnson (51-16-2, 35KOs). The scores were 119-109, 120-108 and 120-108.

In the early rounds, Bute established the range and outworked Johnson, who couldn't get off with his punches and often got tagged with counters as he tried to come inside. Bute started to pick up the pace in the fourth, and began to land some very hard punches. Johnson himself was getting busier around the fourth, but his punches were missing the necessary pop to put a dent in the champion.

Bute was unloading with the punches in the tenth and eleventh rounds. The shots were accurate, but Johnson's iron chin took them. Bute tried to go for the finish in the final. He couldn't do it, as the game Johnson stood in there and took everything that came his way.
