Once his final outing at light-welterweight has been negotiated, for December 10, then WBA/IBF champion Amir Khan will step up a division and have one fight before colliding with Floyd Mayweather Jr. - possibly at Wembley. According to Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer, Khan's return to the UK will likely take place in March, followed by a fight with Mayweather - if the boxer defeats WBC champion Victor Ortiz on September 17.

"We are trying to locate a March date for Amir to come and fight here in the UK," said Schaefer. "After that, all being well, he will fight Mayweather some time after the summer. For that fight we'll be looking at the economics to see how we can stage it here. Mayweather has made it clear to me that he wants a big fight at Wembley Stadium. That would be massive."

Schaefer was speaking at a press conference in London today when it was announced that Mayweather's clash with Ortiz will be screened on Primetime pay per view.
