BoxingScene.com has been advised by manager Edison "Eddy" Reynoso, that Nobuhiro Ishida (23-6, 8KOs) has received an offer to face middleweight king Sergio Martinez (47-2-2, 26KOs) in the fall. On Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Ishida pulled off the upset of the year by stopping previously unbeaten James Kirkland in the first round. Within two minutes, Ishida dropped Kirkland three times before referee Joe Cortez stopped the contest. Martinez was sitting ringside as an expert analyst for HBO Latino.

"Sampson Lewkowicz made me an offer for Ishida to fight Sergio Martinez," said Reynoso.

Lewkowicz, the adviser of Martinez, confirmed the information to BoxingScene.

"Yes it's true. On behalf of his promoter Lou DiBella, I made an offer to Ishida. Nobody gave this kid a chance but he believed in himself. And with the recent tragedy in Japan, he still came in there and won the fight in spectacular fashion. I believe that he's earned the right to step in the ring with the best pound for pound fighter in the world," Lewkowicz said.
