Sauerland Event have moved their planned show in Bamberg previously set for February 26 to Muelheim an der Ruhr and the new date is February 12. Headlining is WBA interim cruiserweight champ Steve Herelius who will defend the title against Yoan Pablo Hernandez, the mandatory challenger. In the co-headliner EBU cruiser, yes Sauerland rules the cruisers, king Alexander Frenkel will defend the title against an opponent to be announced. Heavyweight Francesco Pianeta is als on on the bill and light heavy Artur Hein takes on Francesco Versaci for the vacant EU title.

 

Sauerland has won the purse bids in Rome for EU heavyweight champ Robert Helenius´ defense against mandatory challenger Yakub Saglam. Sauerland delivered the sole bid and it was for 60,421 EUR and that is a lot of money for this kind of fight. When and where is to be announced.

Arena promoter Ahmet Oner on WBC heavyweight king Vitaly Klitschko: "arrogant, and overrated. It´s time for the world to see how overrated Wladimir and Vitali are," states Oner in a press release from Arena. The three were at one time stablemates in Universum with Klitschko´s personal manager Bernd Boente as press spokesman and while they now do business, and have done so before as well, there was a lot of bad blood flowing in the camp.

 

The retirement of former EBU heavyweight champ Paolo Vidoz was short lived - so short lived that Paolo claims it was all a misunderstanding. Either way Vidoz is ready to go in 2011 as well.

 

Amin Asikainen takes on Piotr Wilczewski with the vacant EBU super middleweight title at stake March 4 in Helsinki. P 3 Boxing promotes and it´s a big fight in Finland possibly to be staged at the huge Hartwall Arena where Froch vs Abraham went ahead.

 

Danish super middleweight Mads Larsen has turned down an offer to face compatriot Rudy Markussen in Denmark in April. Markussen, on the comeback trail after several years out, had previously expressed concern if this was the right fight for him at this stage of his career.
