This past Friday, middleweight Osumanu Adama (18-2, 13 KOs) earned a unanimous decision over Angel Hernandez (30-9, 17 KOs) to win the vacant IBO International title in the main event of Windy City Fight Night 14 at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago, IL. It was a slugfest as expected with both fighters throwing bombs and exchanging punches frequently; however, it was also a very one-sided bout as Adama landed the more explosive punches throughout the twelve-round contest.

Right from the start of the bout, Adama landed a right hand on the left shoulder of Hernandez, which rocked him as he stumbled backwards and against the ropes. Adama went right after him, but Hernandez was able to escape and went on to survive the rest of the round.

As the rounds continued, both boxers traded punches often although Adama was gaining the upper hand, landing his punches straight to the face of Hernandez. Even despite getting pummeled, Hernandez continued to move forward and attack his opponent.

In the seventh round, Hernandez momentarily had Adama against the ropes as attempted to punish him while swinging away. The punishment was brief as Adama escaped trouble, although the round was in its closing seconds nonetheless.

It was more of the same in the following rounds as Hernandez moved forward, looking to turn the tide, but instead received crisp punches from Adama.

In the eleventh round, Hernandez began to land some effective punches, but was hit back each time. When the end arrived, one score read 119-109 while the other two were 120-108, all for Adama.

In the co-feature, welterweight David Estrada (25-6, 16 KOs) scored a fifth-round TKO over Franklin Gonzalez (13-7, 9 KOs) in a scheduled ten-round bout.

The first round was slow as Gonzalez circled the ring and Estrada followed his southpaw opponent. Both traded punches in the second round, but Estrada was gaining momentum from his strong body attack in the third.

In the fourth round, Gonzalez opened up more as he began to connect  often with his punches. Then, in the fifth round, a straight right hand from Estrada dropped Gonzalez backward and onto his rear. Although Gonzalez got back to his feet and was able to continue, another right hand dropped him again almost immediately. Ref Geno Rodriguez began to count and then called a halt to the contest. Time of stoppage was 1:05.

Also on the card, Carl Davis (15-3, 11 KOs) won the USBO cruiserweight belt with a ten-round unanimous decision over Arthur Williams (47-17-1, 30 KOs). Davis had Williams in trouble on multiple occasions; however, Williams showed a ton of heart as he continuously battled back. Williams also received a standing eight-count in the fifth round. The final scores were 97-93 and 96-93 twice, all for Davis.

In addition, junior middleweight Donatas Bondoravas (11-1-1, 3 KOs) won by an eight-round unanimous decision over Brandon Baue (12-5, 10 KOs). Bondoravas landed crushing punches round after round as Baue continued to taunt his opponent and ask for more. In the end, the final scores were 80-72 and 79-73 twice.

In other results, junior welterweight Adrian Granados (5-0, 3 KOs) seemed to land his power punches at will, winning by TKO against Justin Danforth (6-17, 1 KO) in the second round. Time of stoppage was 0:24.

Junior lightweight Evgeny Gradovich (7-0, 6 KOs) was too much for Tommy Atencio (4-6, 2 KOs), winning by a fourth-round TKO. The end came at the 1:59 mark.

Middleweight Lamar Russ (6-0, 5 KOs) defeated Eli Augustama (5-2, 3 KOs) by a majority decision. Scores were 57-57, 59-55, and 58-56.
