BoxingScene.com was advised by Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer, that a welterweight encounter between Saul Alvarez (35-0, 26KOs) and Matthew Hatton (41-4-2, 16KOs) has very good chance of coming together in early 2011. Matthew Hatton, the younger brother of British superstar Ricky Hatton, is very interested in the fight. Alvarez is looking to return in the month of February. Schaefer will discuss the potential fight with HBO and Golden Boy President Oscar De La Hoya.

Alvarez and his manager Eddy Reynoso are possibly coming to Las Vegas to attend Saturday's fight between junior welterweights Amir Khan and Marcos Maidana. Schaefer would like to meet with them to review some potential ideas for the first fight of 2011.

"I think it's very realistic. Again, it's going to be a conversation that I'm going to have with [HBO vice president of programming] Kery Davis, and Oscar is going to be arriving here on Thursday. He was down in Veracruz. Canelo might be coming to the fight as well, so we can sit down with him and his manager Eddy Reynoso and discuss when and where," Schaefer told BoxingScene.com.

"There is a possibility with doing something in Los Angeles, at the Nokia Theatre which fits about 8,000 people, which I think would be a sell-out in a couple of days. Ricky's brother, Matthew Hatton, is clearly the leading candidate as his next opponent. "
