The Golzka paper reports that a date has finally been set down for the light heavyweight unification between champions Beibut Shumenov (10-1, 6KOs) and Jürgen Bräehmer (36-2, 29KOs). The fight will happen on January 8 in Shymkent, Kazakhstan. Both the WBA [Shumenov] and the WBO [Bräehmer] have approved the fight to go forward. Golzka reports that Bräehmer's past legal troubles could be the reason the unification did not come over to the United States and instead went to Shumenov's home country.
