At Castle Leisure Centre in Bury, England, Craig Watson, 27, easily outscored professional loser Vasile Surcica (13-31-2, 5 KOs) over eight rounds in a light middleweight non-title tune-up. Watson, who is the reigning Commonwealth 154lb champion, dominated his bigger but less skillful opponent in each round and dropped Surcica once in the eighth and last rounds. The sole score was 80-71 - for an obvious winner.

Light heavyweight prospect Danny McIntosh (12-1, 6 KOs) continued his comeback series after a spectacular loss to world-rated Welshman Nathan Cleverly the last year. MacIntosh followed his recent stoppage of Tony Oakey with the third-round TKO over well-known veteran journeyman Hastings Rasani (23-55-4, 16 KOs). McIntosh looked better throughout this bout bu he never came close to really rock Hastings' world. However, referee halted the action at 0:55 of the third after a couple of good shots by McIntosh. Rasani was still firing shots with bad intentions so that the stoppage looked rather premature.

Light-fisted super bantamweight Rhys Roberts (12-0, 2 KOs) displayed his remarkable boxing skills but failed to impress against determined Georgian Georgiy Gachechiladze (6-4, 1 KO). Roberts cruised to a convincing ten-round points decision though with the sole score being 100-90 - in his favour. Hatton Promotions staged this event for the joy of local fans in Bury.
