In the co-featured bout of the evening, held at the Olympic Coliseum in the University of Guadalajara, the flyweight champion of the World Boxing Council (WBC), Mexico's Omar Niño, stopped Colombian Ronald Barrera after the challenger was unable to come out for the seventh round.

Nino used distance to score punches on his Colombian challenger, who fought in a guard, and did not launch any significant punches in the first round.

The Colombian was encouraged to hold hands up his hands at the end of the second, connecting with little force, while Nino cut back with a little body work and landed two blows at once. Barrera came out aggressive in the third, attacking but Nino countered back to land punches with ease. Nino dominated the fourth round, delivering clean blows to the face of the Colombian, who appeared hurt at times.

At the end of the fourth, all three judges had the bout 40-36 for the champion.

Barrera offered little opposition in the fifth and sixth rounds, and the champion took the opportunity to connect at will. Barrera did not come out for the seventh round.

Nino's record moves to 30-3-2, 12 KOs. Barrera moves to 27-8-2, 17 KOs.

In other action, Mexican featherweight contender Rafael "Chocho" Guzman, won by TKO, at 1:40 of the fifth round, over his compatriot Sergio "Mickey" López. Guzman raises his record to 26-2, 18 KOs.  Lopez drops to 11-2.
