Unbeaten contender Abner Mares is looking forward to Showtime's four man bantamweight tournament. The single elimination tournament is set to take off on the tentative date of November 6. Mares will challenge Vic Darchinyan for the IBO title in the main event. The co-feature will have IBF champion Yonnhy Perez defending against ex-champ Joseph Agbeko.

Mares spoke to BoxingScene.com's official audio show, Leave It In The Ring Radio, and said he was confident of victory in the fight with Darchinyan.

"I will be fighting Vic Darchinyan and Yonnhy Perez will be fighting Agbeko; we will be fighting on the same card it’ll be real interesting for the fight fans, a card full good of fighters," Mares said.

Mares returns from a controversial draw with Perez. He hopes Perez wins his fight to set up a rematch between the two of them in the tournament finals. Mares expects to leave the tournament with two titles and then he plans to hunt for WBO/WBC champion Fernando Montiel.

"That was my first option, we called out Yonnhy after the fight and we wanted a rematch. He’s the champion and he has a mandatory against Agbeko so it’s understandable that it couldn’t happen, we hope that he wins and I win my fight so that we can meet up in the future," Mares said.

"After this fight against Vic Darchinyan, if we win I honestly think we’re going to blow up, beating a well known fighter like Darchinyan and if we get the rematch with Yonnhy and beating him as well [we'll blow up] even more. I see myself beating those two fighters and becoming world champion at bantamweight and having two different world titles and eventually move up to super bantamweight."
