The CEO for Top Rank, Bob Arum, says the plan to stage a big bantamweight showdown between WBC/WBO champion Fernando Montiel of Mexico and Nonito Donaire of the Philippines, is moving forward in either in November or December. Arum spoke to both sides and they are on board.

"I talked to [manager] Fernando Beltran yesterday, and he's ready with Montiel, and I talked to Cameron Dunkin, who manages Donaire, and he's ready for the fight to happen. It's the fight that we want to make," said Arum.

Arum will attempt to make a deal with either HBO or Showtime to televise the fight. If a deal can't be reached with either network, Arum will possibly place the fight on the undercard to Miguel Cotto vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. on December 4.

"I think that it's one of the two most attractive fights in boxing," said Arum. "We're talking to various people about it, and particularly HBO, and that's the showdown between Montiel and Donaire. That's one of the biggest fights."

"If we can't get Montiel and Donaire on an independent network, we would still look to do it on the under card of Cotto-Chavez. But we would prefer to get it on an independent network because it would be bigger exposure for the two fighters."
