YORK, PA - Final details have been announced as TKO Boxing Promotions presents “The Battle of York V” this Saturday night, July 31st at the Sovereign Bank Stadium in York, Pennsylvania. A huge crowd is expected for the return of this unique summer evening of world class boxing at the baseball stadium.

In the main event, The Fighting Pride of York, PA, Carney “Beeper” Bowman will square off against Union City, New Jersey veteran Robert Acevedo.

The undefeated Bowman, 14-0-0 with six knockouts, returns to the ring after a one year absence, his last bout being a brutal third round knockout of Delvin Placencia at ‘The Battle of York IV” last summer. The 27 year old Bowman is looking to put on a great performance for his legion of hometown fans and build momentum this year towards a world ranking.

A native of Moca, Puerto Rico, the 24 year old, upset minded Acevedo, 9-10-3 (1KO), has engaged in numerous battles with many world class prospects including Adrien Broner, Kenny Galarza, Vincent Arroyo and Mickey Bey Jr.

Also returning to the ring at the Sovereign Bank Stadium is hard hitting, cruiserweight contender Andres “TaylorMade” Taylor from nearby Johnstown, PA. Sporting a record of 15-1-1 with six knockouts, Taylor is riding a seven bout winning streak as he prepares to face Worcester, MA native Adam Harris, 10-3-0 (7KO’s).

Last summer, Taylor scored a crunching fifth round knockout of veteran Ray Ashworth, stunning the crowd at the baseball stadium.

Two other York based prospects returning to action this Saturday night are welterweight Stevie Weimer and junior lightweight Eric Nemo.

Undefeated in his first four professional bouts, the 20 year old Weimer, 4-0-0 (2KO’s), will take on veteran Dontre King, 2-7-2 (1KO) of Cambridge, MA in a scheduled four round bout.

Weimer won a four round decision over Melchor Guillen Jr. in his last outing at “The Battle of York IV.”

Junior lightweight Nemo, 8-1-1 (3KO’s) will battle Jackson, Michigan’s Rasool Shakoor, 3-7-1 (1KO) in a scheduled four rounder. Known for his all-action, entertaining battles, Nemo won a six round unanimous decision over Jairo Delgado at last summer’s baseball park show.

In a special attraction six round bout, sensational junior welterweight prospect Terence Crawford, 11-0-0 (8KO’s), will take on savvy Washington, D.C. veteran Ron Boyd, 6-10-1 (2KO’s).

Regarded as one of the most promising prospects in the 140 pound division, the Omaha native, Crawford has thrilled fans across the country with his outstanding boxing skills and fast hands.

IBF, WBO and IBO World Heavyweight Champion Wladimir Klitschko defends his titles against Samuel Peter at Commerzbank-Arena Frankfurt, Germany on September 11.

Samuel Peter is 29 years old and #2 ranked in the IBF. After the IBF disqualified Alexander Povetkin for not following its rules, Peter is now the mandatory challenger of Klitschko.

In 2005, Klitschko and Peter met in a dramatic fight in Atlantic City, USA. Klitschko was down three times during the fight but came back strong and nearly knocked out Peter in the 12th round. Klitschko won the fight by unanimous decision.

Wladimir Klitschko: "Peter was one of the toughest fights of my career, he is an extremely hard puncher and has improved a lot in his last fights. I know what to expect on September 11 and I will be well prepared.”

Samuel Peter: "I had to wait a long time for the rematch. Now I will finish what I missed five years ago. This time I am going straight in and take him out. It’s not going to last real long.”

Bernd Bönte, Managing Director of Klitschko Management Group (KMG): „ Klitschko vs. Peter five years ago was one of the most exciting bouts in the last decade. Boxing fans have wanted to see this rematch ever since. We are grateful that we now have an even better and stronger opponent for Wladimir than Povetkin.”

Samuel „The Nigerian Nightmare“ Peter lives in Las Vegas, NV and is currently training in Big Bear, CA with experienced trainer Abel Sanchez. His fight record is 34 fights (27 KOs) with only three losses. Peter was WBC World Heavyweight Champion 2006-2008 before he lost against Vitali Klitschko. In the last 12 months Peter won four fights by KO, his last bout was for the IBF title eliminator against Nagy Aguilera.

Klitschko‘ s record is 54 wins (48 KOs) with three losses. It is his 18th championship fight and he is the longest reigning IBF Champion.
