Last week, WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko issued a video statement on the never-ending negotiations to make a fight with ex-champion Nikolai Valuev. Klitschko said Valuev was "scared" to accept an offer of $1.5 million for an October fight. Valuev issued a quick response to Klitschko's statement. Valuev claimed that he accepted the offer of $1.5 million and it was Klitschko who was running from their fight.

Valuev's co-promoter Don King, spoke with Bleek, and said there were issues with the rematch clause, but they accepted Klitschko's offer of $1.5 million and the fight terms.

"We accepted the fight. We agreed to Vitali's proposed fee of $ 1.5 million dollars, so I don't quite understand the motives of Vitali's video. We had a small disagreement at only one point - regarding the rematch. In the event Klitschko lost, he wanted to make a lot more money than Valuev in the rematch. But again, we are ready to fight," King said.

"And such treatment here from Vitali would only suggest that the Ukrainian did not really want this fight. I am sure that Valuev would beat the older Klitschko, and Wladimir. Why does Klitschko have such a low opinion of me? I absolutely do not understand that. I like Vitali, I like Wladimir. I like the Klitschkos, and I love Ukraine!"
