According to a report in Reeklama, IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute (26-0, 21Kos)will make his mandatory defense against Jesse Brinkley (35-5, 22KOs) in either October or November of this year. A spokesperson for Bute's promoter, InterBox, told the paper he would likely fight Brinkley next.

Bute was going to fight in his home country of Romania but that won't happen due to the ongoing economic crisis in the country. Bute-Brinkley is going to take place in Canada. A tentative date of October 15 has been thrown out there but Bute's trainer Stephan Larouche told the paper it's possible the Brinkley fight will get pushed back to November.
