WBO bantamweight champion Fernando Montiel has spoken out about the unification with WBC champion Hozumi Hasegawa for April 30 in Japan. Despite rumors of a signed contract by the Mexican fighter, Montiel says the deal is not done and he is not going to Japan unless the money is right. Montiel was upset over what he claimed were false reports on the internet that claimed he signed a contract for the fight.

"I am not going to fight for peanuts. I am going to leave to get deceive by anybody. I clearly come from a boxing family and we know perfectly well how much you should get to fight in Mexico, United States and Japan. I'm not turning down the fight, I just want them to pay me what's right," Montiel told boxnoticias .

If they reach a financial agreement, Montiel is pretty sure that he will knock Hasegawa out.

"I won't go. If I don't get paid what's right, then I'll stay in Mexico and look for something else. I pretty am sure that if I go to Japan, I am going to win. I have no doubt that I am going to knock Hasegawa out, but first the business with my salary has to be fixed," Montiel said.
