The bout between WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko and Nikolai Valuev is still possible. After the claims of Klitschko’s manager Berndt Boente that “Don King has gone mad” and that "all the negotiations has been cancelled” Valuev still received the final offer of $2.5 million dollars (previously he’d been offered $1 and then $2 million).

“Valuev understands that he can’t win, so he decided to snatch himself "retirement" money, the biggest in his career”, - explained the Ukrainian to BLIK newspaper. - "Probably that’s where the improbable amount of $4 million came from. He has never earned even the half of this sum in his career, even when he was a champion. Now he's telling everyone that Klitschko is greedy and doesn't want to pay him decent money, while I give Nikolai the chance to challenge for the most prestigious belt in the world and moreover pay him $2.5 million for that. That is my last offer".

According to Segodnya newspaper Valuev’s team has rejected this offer too. However Valuev’s manager Boris Dimitrov disapproved of the fact that Don King leads the negotiations instead of Sauerland events. “The way it is now, Nikolai turns down almost 3 million dollars”, - Dimitrov said.
