According to the latest word from promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank, HBO's January 23 doubleheader is heading to the WaMu Theater located in New York's Madison Square Garden. The main event has Juan Manuel Lopez moving up in weight to challenge WBO featherweight champion Steven Luevano. The co-feature has a WBA featherweight title defense by Yuriorkis Gamboa, who faces Rogers Mtagwa.

In Juanma's last fight, he was nearly put away by Mtagwa in the championships rounds but managed to hang on to the final bell. Following Juanma's win, Gamboa had expressed his desire to fight Mtagwa. At first the opponent for Gamboa was going to be Mtagwa but then the there was a switch and Bernabe Concepcion was being placed in. Arum says Concepcion is out and Mtagwa is getting the fight.

"The plan is to have Juanma move up to 126 pounds to challenge Luevano in the feature fight and also to have the Yuriorkis Gamboa of Cuba face Mtagwa in the co-feature" said Arum to Primera Hora. "Mtagwa put up a great fight against Juanma and deserves a second chance. So he will face Gamboa."
