Could WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko make a title defense in Mexico next year? The WBC says it's possible. Klitschko returned to action last weekend at Staples Center in Los Angeles, stopping Chris Arreola in ten. There appears to be a big demand in several areas of Mexico for a major heavyweight title defense.

After the fight was over, WBC officials approached Klitschko with the idea of a title defense in Mexico next year. He was open to the possibility. Klitschko plans to return on the tentative date of December 12 in a title defense against Oleg Maskaev or Kevin Johnson in Germany.

"We spoke to Klitschko and he told us that he would be happy to go to Mexico [to fight]," the WBC said in a statement.
