Two champions. Two divisions. Few options. BoxingScene.com was informed that a fight between WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik and WBC junior middleweight Sergio Martinez will be explored.

Martinez saw his options shrink when James Kirkland was sent to jail and Alfredo Angulo was upset by Kermit Cintron. Martinez fought Cintron to a controversial draw in February and HBO has shown little interest in picking up a rematch.

Pavlik saw several options go up in smoke when Arthur Abraham and Carl Froch committed themselves to Showtime's upcoming super middleweight tournament. Top Rank tried to get Pavlik a fight with WBA champion Felix Sturm. Between HBO's offer of $2 million for the fight, and Sturm's monetary demand, there may not be enough money to make it happen.

Top Rank wants to bring Pavlik back on October 3 at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.

"Sergio Martinez is interested in moving up to challenge Kelly Pavlik. I plan to speak with Top Rank in the next few days," said Martinez's promoter Lou DiBella.

Pavlik's co-manager, Cameron Dunkin, told BoxingScene that a fight between Pavlik and Martinez is an interesting encounter. He was recently contacted to get his thoughts on a possible fight between Pavlik and Martinez.

"I have been contacted about my thoughts on the fight," Dunkin said.
