BoxingScene.com was advised that a certified slugfest is in the works. Talks are ongoing for a September meeting between WBA super bantamweight champion Celestino Caballero (31-2, 22KOs) and undefeated WBA interim-featherweight champion Yuriorkis Gamboa (15-0, 13KOs). Caballero would move up in weight to challenge Gamboa for his title, but first he needs to win his fight on April 30 against Jeffrey Mathebula in Panama.

Sources close to the negotiations advise BoxingScene that a tentative date of September 5 on Showtime is being considered. HBO reportedly has some interest in the fight as well.
