At the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, IBF/WBC/WBA super flyweight champion Vic Darchinyan (32-1-1, 26 KOs) battered and bruised Jorge Arce (51-5-1, 39 KOs) for eleven brutal rounds of punishment.

Arce was a bit tentative in the first round, jumping in and getting nailed by Darchinyan's right hands and uppercuts. When Arce tried to circle around, Darchinyan's left hands found their mark and opened a cut under his left eye. Darchinyan went right to work in the second, landing lefts and rights that battered the face of Arce. A combination of punches peppered Arce as he was trapped in the corner.

In the third, a hard left began a rally for Arce. The two would brawl at close range with both fighters getting in some good punches. A cut opened up under the right eye of Arce as they brawled. Darchinyan seemed to have been rattled during the exachanges. There was a clash of heads in the round, opening a cut above the right eye of Darchinyan. The crowd was on their feet as the two fighters traded punches to the bell.

The left hooks of Arce began to find their mark in the fourth. In the final minute, a huge left hand by Darchinyan would buckle the legs of Arce, who did his best to survive to the bell. Arce came out charging in the fifth, trading wild shots with Darchinyan. When they tired up, Arce began to target the body. The two would let their hands go in the final five seconds and continue to trade after the bell.

The left ear of Arce was blleding at the start of the sixth. Some hard lefts would buckle Arce's legs once again. Darchinyan would land some punishing punches to bang Arce up. They once again would trade punches at the end of the round. Arce started with some wild punches in the seventh and Darchinyan would counter with lefts. Darchinyan would land some hard bodyshots and punches to the head that wobbled Arce in the final seconds.

Arce got caught with a hard left as he charged Darchinyan in the eight. An uppercut would put Arce back in trouble again. Darchinyan began to showboat as he measured Arce to land power shots from both hands. Arce went back to walking to his right in the ninth, and was being hit with Darchinyan's lefts. They once again went back to brawling at the end of the ninth.

Darchinyan began to circle, potshot and jab his way to a total domination in the tenth. Arce's eye was a bloody mess in the eleventh. Darchinyan got him in serious trouble and really put on the pressure to try and put him away with a pure vicious assault of hard punches. The doctor had seen enough and stopped the fight before the start of the twelfth.
