Prior to the beginning of the pay-per-view broadcast of Joe Calzaghe-Roy Jones Jr., fans inside Madison Square Garden were treated to an occasionally entertaining five-bout undercard.

The best of the bouts featured 27-year old Middleweight Daniel Edouard (20-2-2, 11 KO), 159, of West Palm Beach, Florida posting a decisive but testing eight round unanimous decision over 32-year old Alphonso Williams (10-5, 8 KO), 160, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  It was Edouard’s second straight victory after suffering a knockout loss to Eromosele Albert in July 2007.

In other action, a trio of prospects maintained perfect records.

The brother of Brooklyn, New York’s former World Welterweight champion Zab Judah, 22-year old Joseph (4-0, 1 KO), 153, stopped Richard Heath (3-10, 2 KO) in two rounds of Jr. Middleweight action.  34-year old Jr. Featherweight Keiyon Bussy (5-0, 3 KO), 120, of Pensacola, Florida was successful as well, dropping Hassan Dato Wasswa (5-7-2, 2 KO), 124, en route to a unanimous decision win in four rounds.  Finally, 21-year old Golden Boy Promotions Middleweight super prospect Daniel Jacobs (12-0, 11 KO), did nothing to suppress the buzz about him, dominating 31-year old Jimmy Campbell (11-3, 8 KO), 159, of London and finishing with a third round stoppage.

In the opener, 33-year old Heavyweight Dominick Guinn (30-6-1, 20 KO), 229, of Houston, Texas posted an easy, workmanlike unanimous decision over eight rounds against 36-year old Gabe Brown (18-9-4, 12 KO), 301, of Pensacola, Florida.  Once a promising prospect, Guinn continues to rebuild with his second straight win after two straight losses.
