According to the camp of Shane Cameron, talks for a possible bout with New Zealand rival David Tua has fallen apart over the date and money. For nearly two-years, Cameron has been calling out Tua for a fight. He was ignored until a few weeks ago when a huge offer was presented by an Auckland-based events company, Duco Ltd, who tried to make the two New Zealand rivals come together.

Cameron wanted the fight in March, while Tua wanted the fight in June. Cameron plans to return on March 7 for a homecoming bout in Gisborne.

"I called him out over two years ago and all of a sudden he wants to fight now," said Cameron to the Gisborne Herald. "A fight between us will come down to a lot of things. It has to work for both parties and a lot goes into pro boxing matches like this, especially at this level. It would be a great fight and isn't something I would walk away from unless it simply wasn't worth me doing."

"Other opportunities arise when things are going well but it is a matter of being smarter and picking the right pathways. We could easily be looking at a world title fight after the Gisborne fight and that's what we want."
