At the Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula, California, featherweight prospect Yuriorkis Gamboa (12-0, 10 KOs), a 2004 Olympic gold medal winner, stopped Marcos Ramirez (25-1, 16 KOs) in a wild two-round fight.

Ramirez came out swinging in the first-round, rocking and knocking Gamboa down with a shocked crowd going wild. Gamboa beat the count, and began to battle with Ramirez at close range. During the second-round, Gamboa ripped Ramirez with blazing speed and power punches, sending Ramirez down. When Ramirez got to his feet, the two of them continued to trade dozens of power punches at close range, with an uppercut up the middle sending Ramirez down for the second time. Ramirez did not get up in time to beat the count, but some felt the ref's count was a bit too quick.
