At the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Contender winner Sergio Mora (21-0, 5KOs) showed he is the real deal by moving down in weight to win a majority decision over Vernon Forrest (40-3, 29KOs) to capture the WBC junior middleweight title. The scores were 115-113 and 116-112 for Mora, and 114-114 for the draw

Forrest came out swinging in first three-rounds with the bigger shots to push Mora around the ring. Mora would begin to establish his jab and began to bring the fight to Forrest with power combinations, which is out of his character.

Mora caught him with a massive right in the sixth to turn the tide. Forrest appeared to slow down by the seventh-round as Mora was coming on in the final minute of each round to try and steal them on the official scorecards.

In the ninth-round, the two fighters were trading big shots for at least forty-seconds as Mora had Forrest trapped against the ropes. Mora usually fights in spurts, but he put forth a high work rate to test Forrest's will. The two continued to trade punches in the final minute of the tenth-round as Mora poured on the punches.

Mora continued to outhustle Forrest in the final two-rounds due to Vernon's fatigue. He did some decent body work during the fight to break Forrest down in the late rounds. Mora looked much better at junior middleweight than he ever did at middleweight.

Full ringside report coming tonight.
