It appears that unbeaten WBC/WBO/WBA super middleweight champ Joe Calzaghe is back on the road to retirement. Calzaghe has switched his plans around in the last few weeks, initially stating that he would retire after one more fight and then stating that he would fight a few more times depending on the money. Now Calzaghe has once again made a call for retirement after his next fight, scheduled to take place on November 15.

"I want to be one of the few fighters who retires at the right time," Calzaghe told scribe Graham Walker. "I've had a tremendous career. It's my 11th year as a world champion. So one more big fight and I'll call it a day."

Calzaghe's promoter Frank Warren is in talks with several parties to match him against either Roy Jones Jr. or middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik. Joe says that Jones is the most obvious choice to end his career.

"He is a living legend. What a good way to finish off my career, against him," Jones said. "He's the obvious choice. The good thing now is everyone wants to fight me. For years they all avoided me."

If a fight with Jones falls through, one fighter Calzaghe will not face is UK-rival Clinton Woods.

"It's definitely not going to happen. He got beat - so unfortunately for Clinton, we won't be fighting," Calzaghe said. "He's a down-to-earth guy and he's done very well to become a world champion. He's beaten some big names and hopefully he can come back and get another title shot. His last fight, against Tarver, was very disappointing. Whether he had problems leading up to that fight, I'm not sure. But whether he goes on, only he can answer that. Like myself, he's getting old."
