According to the President of the World Boxing Council (WBC), Mauricio Sulaiman, the winner of the upcoming fight between Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez of Nicaragua and Srisaket Sor Rungvisai of Thailand will have to make a defense against former world champion Carlos Cuadras.

As previously reported on BoxingScene.com, Gonzalez will make a mandatory defense of the WBC super flyweight world title against Sor Rungvisai.

The fight will take place on March 18th at Madison Square Garden in New York, as the HBO Pay-Per-View co-feature to Gennady Golovkin's defense of the WBC, WBA, IBF, IBO middleweight titles against mandatory challenger Daniel Jacobs.

Cuadras wanted an immediate rematch with Gonzalez, after losing his title to the four division world champion last September in Los Angeles. Sulaiman revealed that he'll appear as part of the undercard against an opponent to be named, and then he will get a crack at the winner of the WBC title clash.

"Definitely Chocolatito chose to make the mandatory defense against Rungvisai and the winner will be forced to fight against Cuadras," said Sulaimán.

This will be Gonzalez's first bout with his longtime trainer Arnulfo Obando, who passed away last year after suffering a stroke.

Sor Rungvisai has a record of 41-4-1, with 38 knockouts. He won the WBC super flyweight title in May 2013, but lost it in just his second defense against the Cuadras. Between those two fights, he won stayed busy by winning seven non-title fights and then won 14 fights since the loss to Cuadras in May of 2014.

Chocolatito, who has a record of 46-0, with 38 knockouts, has captured world titles at minimumweight, junior flyweight, flyweight and super flyweight belt. Regarded as the best pound for pound fighter in the world by a lot of experts, Gonzalez is the only fighter from Nicaragua to capture world titles in four weight divisions - breaking the three division record that was held by his countryman Alexis Arguello.
