Light heavyweight contender Andre Ward (30-0, 15KOs) believes Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin (36-0, 33KOs) gets a lot of passed from the critics - where other boxers are blasted by the press for making identical moves.

Ward is training for one of the biggest fights of the year, when he challenges IBF/WBO/WBA light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev on November 19th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Golovkin is currently negotiating to defend his WBC/WBA/IBO/IBF middleweight belts against mandatory challenger Daniel Jacobs on December 10th in New York City.

Ward feels Golovkin is getting away with a lot, where he'd get crucified by the press if he was in the same position. Explaining one point, if Ward defeats Kovalev for his titles - and then defends those belts against someone from the middleweight division, and was getting tagged by hard shots in the fight, there would be an outcry of controversy.

Ward is making a point about Golovkin's fight from last month, where he defending his belts against IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook - who moved up by thirteen pounds for the bout. Brook did well in the fight and landed some very hard shots, but he was stopped in the fifth round after suffering an orbital bone fracture.

Last year there were minor talks for a Ward vs. Golovkin fight. The discussions never got off the ground. After they fell through, Ward moved up to 175-pounds. During those talks, Ward was willing to do an even 50-50 split down the line with Golovkin - that won't happen again if they come back to the table.

"The reality is - he gets a lot of passes. Golovkin gets passes. Can you imagine me being in a fight with a guy two weight classes below me getting touched like that? They would try to kick me out of boxing," Ward explained.

"We see the hypocrisy, we see the different things going on. We just choose to keep quiet and we're already moving on. I'm already over the guy. If the situation makes sense then he can certainly head up and come get it, but I'm not going to be making any concessions. That time is over with. We were going to do that, that time has passed and that's over and passed."

"It's going be you guys that demand [this fight]. Just like they are demanding it from Canelo [to face Golovkin], you have to demand it from him [to face me]."
