A. Mundine: I Just Want To Exterminate Daniel Geale!

Anthony Mundine says he respects what his next opponent Daniel Geale has achieved, but still plans to "exterminate" his rival in their rematch bout in January.

The boxers last met in 2009, when Geale suffered his only career loss in a controversial split points decision.

They announced on Thursday that they would go head-to-head in January for the IBF and WBA middleweight world titles, although a venue and date have not yet been confirmed.

Mundine told reporters that he has arrived at the stage of his career where he no longer cares about winning titles, only beating the best boxers.

"Can't no one beat me at 154 (pounds), 160, that's why I took this fight," he said.

"I wanted this fight to prove that the last one wasn't a fluke.

"I'm looking to dominate the fight and then just basically dominate and finish him ... I just want to exterminate him.

"He's gonna taste the canvas again."

Geale said he expects nothing less than a tough contest, but he is ready for it.

"I've worked my arse off for a lot of years, got myself in a great position," he said.

"Now he wants to fight me - that's fine, any time you want to fight me I'm ready.

"I've got two titles and he wants them now. There's no way I'm giving them away.

"I'm expecting a hard fight, the best Anthony Mundine out there.

"I have improved again after going over to Germany for the second time, I've stepped up to another level and I'm happy about that."

But Geale was quick to point out that it was not about getting even with "The Man".

"To me it's not about revenge, it's about setting things right but it's not revenge," he said.

"I don't have anything spiteful about him, a lot of people do talk and a lot of people are on his side and believe that he won [in 2009] and a lot of people are on my side and believe that I won.

"But ... this is our opportunity to make things right and I believe I'm a lot better fighter than back then."

Mundine, ever with the quick comeback, would not let that be the last word.

"I respect Daniel Geale and what he's accomplished in his career," he said.

"But we had one problem - I'm better."

Geale's manager Gary Francisco said negotiations are underway with venues "up and down the eastern seaboard" and that an announcement would be made within 10 to 14 days.
