Is Andre Berto Teasing a Money Team Transition?

Former two-time welterweight titleholder Andre Berto seems to be teasing a possible transition to TMT Promotions, according to a tweet from Berto on Monday night.

“3 hour Power Meeting with the big homie @50cent,” Berto wrote on Twitter. “Big plans in the works.”

He then linked to a photo of himself standing alongside the rapper-turned-budding boxing promoter.

50 Cent, aka Curtis Jackson, has recently been in the news after getting a promoter’s license and signing a trio of boxers: super middleweight contender Andre Dirrell, former featherweight beltholder Yuriorkis Gamboa, and current featherweight titleholder Billy Dib.

“TMT” is short for “The Money Team,” a nod to 50 Cent’s fighter friend, Floyd “Money” Mayweather.

Berto last appeared in September 2011, when he stopped Jan Zaveck. He was supposed to have fought a rematch with Victor Ortiz this past June, but that bout was called off when Berto tested positive for nandrolone. The 28-year-old is 28-1 with 22 knockouts.

BoxingScene.com has left a message for Lou DiBella, whose promotional company lists Andre Berto among its fighters.

Very interested to see what the new additions will be to the roster. Broner, Devon, Quillin, Trout, Russell Jr, Rigo, Lara, Garcia, Seth Mitchell? Cotto, ehh probably not. If Haymon is indeed involved there has to be more defects coming…
